Andrew Sanders - AMS Pottery

by Andrew Sanders Andrew grew up in Plymouth in England and went to the local art college where ceramics became his main focus after studying various three dimensional subjects.

With the realization that he wanted to become a professional potter he went to a specialized college outside of London where he was exposed to many full time professional potters who came to the college to teach part time. An emphasis was placed on functional design, kiln firings, glaze formulation and application, practical studio management and how to survive as a professional. Since then, Andrew has worked professionally as a potter and taught in various places including Holland, Switzerland, Australia and in the US.

Today, usability and function are characteristics that play a major part in the production of Andrew's pieces. He tries to create visual movement in the clay forms, making an aesthetic balance between functional design and creative art.
